Meta: Albania - Italy Cooperation to Be Enhanced

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta met on Wednesday with Italian Senate President, Pietro Grasso in the framework of his official visit to Italy. Both interlocutors praised the excellent cooperation between the two countries' structures in the fight against organized crime and narcotics trafficking. They also emphasized that these challenges and threats can be met successfully only through increased cooperation, information exchange and well-coordinated actions between two countries, but also with other partner countries and organizations.
President Meta's official visit to Italy agenda included also a meeting with Albania - Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group chairman, Salvatore Margiotta. The President thanked Mr Margiotta for the precious support given by this group to the Albania’s integration process. He expressed the firm certitude that Albania - Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group will play a key role in this phase, supporting the opening of negotiations with Albania.
Pairs stressed the importance of a joint parliamentary agenda that would promote new initiatives aimed to facilitate the contacts between people in different fields like culture, art and business.
President Meta underlined the need to reach a bilateral agreement that could address social security and assess individual contributions in this regard.
